I know that it is an academic source because it is written by experts in the field (writers are affiliated with a university), it includes in-text citations, and has a bibliography. I know that this source is peer-reviewed as the acknowledgements thank Kevin Devito, Jill Johnstone and two other anonymous reviewers for their comments on their early draft. Finally, I know that this is a resource source because it reports the results of a field study (has methods, results, discussion; etc).
